Dental Cleaning and Exams

Comprehensive dental cleanings and exams are vital to maintaining a healthy smile, preventing cavities, and detecting any potential dental issues before they can significantly affect your overall dental health. At Advanced Dental Care, we generally recommend a cleaning and exam every six months, where we tailor your visit to you and your needs. When you come in for a typical visit, you can expect:

  • Cleaning, scaling, and polishing: Our dental staff will professionally clean and polish your teeth, removing stubborn plaque while brightening your smile and dental restorations. Scaling helps remove tough tartar deposits on your teeth that brushing alone can’t remove.
  • In-depth Dental Examination: Our dentists check for a range of issues, from bite problems to cavities, tooth weakness, and periodontal, or gum, disease. Learning of a problem before it becomes serious generally allows us to treat you more quickly and with better results. We’ll discuss what we’ve found with you to help ensure your teeth remain as healthy as they can be. However, because dental health is so connected with your overall health, we also like to discuss any other health issues you have in order to provide you with the best, lifelong care possible.
  • Digital Dental X-Rays: X-ray examinations are important to detecting dental problems such as tooth weakness and potential issues with developing teeth that aren’t visible to the naked eye. Our modern digital X-ray machines are safe and effective while allowing us to effectively look for any problems inside your teeth and gums.
  • Fluoride Treatments: Fluoride is a safe, natural element that can help protect your teeth from decay and long-term damage. It’s in many city water systems throughout the country to help prevent cavities and we recommend using only toothpaste that contains fluoride in order to help prevent cavities. However, if warranted, we will also treat your teeth with supplemental fluoride to help prevent decay that can damage your teeth.
  • Oral Cancer Screenings: It’s vital to detect oral, or mouth, cancer as early as possible in order to provide the best long-term outcome. Sores, white spots, and rough patches inside your mouth can be relatively common, or they can potentially be signs of a more serious problem. Our dentists will examine you to determine whether these spots are normal or are a greater cause for concern.
  • Time to Talk: At Advanced Dental Care, we believe that speaking with you and discussing your concerns is a vital part of any visit.

These are just a few of the services we may provide during your normal appointment for a cleaning and exam at Advanced Dental Care. However, because every patient’s needs are different, we encourage you to call today at (920) 892-8466 and schedule an appointment for an examination.
